Alleyverse Wiki

Voidus was the original creator of the Alleyverse, and the first denizen of the Dark Alleys. Not much is known of his history other than these facts, and his reclusiveness and general unwillingness to involve himself in most affairs has lead to a large number of people regarding him as a form of deity for the Alleyverse, though Voidus himself has disputed this claim on numerous occasions.

History[]

Who or what Voidus did before he created the Alleys is not widely known, he has no history on any of the known Shardworlds, or on any version of earth. Many speculate that he may not have had any worldly origin and that contrary to appearances he is not simply a man but some form of sentient Investiture or Void such as a Splinter.

It is known that Voidus created the Alleys at some point in the past as a way to bridge universes, and using them to traverse from one world to the next he began recruiting scientists and others to the Alleys, primarily with the goal of furthering Hemalurgic research and baked goods. Together with these individuals that had been recruited, Voidus founded the guild known as the Dark Alley and began large scale experiments and expansions in their research capabilities.

At some point after the creation of the Dark Alley, Voidus managed to spike the dimensional stability from an unknown universe in order to stabilize a chaotic region of space which eventually became the Alleyverse. This spike became known as the Worldspike and Voidus subsequently raised a number of defenses around it in order to prevent any interference of it as this could cause the immediate destruction of all matter in the Alleyverse. Shortly after this an influx of people into the Alleyverse led to the creation of a city around the Worldspike.

Eventually a number of other guilds began to form in the Alleyverse, largely without any open opposition from Voidus or the Dark Alley, and during this time it is believed that Voidus accidentally had a hand in creating the Dark Alley's Human Resources department, which he has since come to regret deeply.

After the other guilds had been created, Voidus began an experiment which involved placing an Identity spike of himself into a rock, along with Elsecalling powers. Why exactly Voidus did this is not known, but the rock did interact with a number of people during its short lifespan before eventually being killed outside of the Alleyway bar by Mace Klasten.

After becoming firmly established in the Alleycity, a number of guilds formed a large force to try to retake the city from the Dark Alley, Voidus led Dark Alley forces in the resulting war against the city, though he avoided taking to the battle himself or allowing any prominent members of the Dark Alley to do so. Instead an increasing number of abominations from the Dark Alley were released into the city as an attempt to ward off attackers.

During the war Voidus was approached by Rashan Caer to try to stop the war, Rashan asked Voidus to lead him to the Worldspike so that Rashan could connect with it via the Spiritual realm and try to determine a way to promote peace. Rashan foresaw a way to stop the abominations that were attacking the city and inpire an end to the fighting, leaving Voidus alone inside the barrier around the Worldspike. Before he managed to leave the Eldritch horrors that the Dark Alley kept contained were allowed to spill out, this caused a lockdown of Dark Alley resources, including the barrier around the World Spike, leaving Voidus trapped within.

Voidus was trapped within the barrier for 17 years, keeping himself occupied by talking to himself for this duration and ocasionally testing the barrier. He was eventually freed when the barrier was weakened by a number of Dor users draining the Dor around the barrier during an Alleystorm, led by Alum and Mack. Upon being freed from the barrier, Voidus initially planned to kill Mac, using Allomancy to pull Mac towards him from across the city and beginning to Voidmake all sources of Investiture from him, however this was interrupted by the appearance of Sudiov, a cognitive Splinter that had been created from the power that had gathered while Voidus had been trapped within the barrier. Voidus and Sudiov briefly battled, culminating with Sudiov's retreat when Mac Snapped into Voidmaking and assisted Voidus, overturning the stalemate that the two had been in.

Sinc then, Voidus has spent much of his time regaining control of the Dark Alley and learning what he had missed while trapped, as well as attempting to thwart the efforts of Sudiov who allied with TUBA in an attempt to further oppose Voidus. He also began to spend some time training Mac in Voidmaking, showing him how to use his new powers in the hope that they would be able to help in finally defeating Sudiov. This training was interrupted by the appearance of Plasmacore and the subsequent creation of the Vortex.

Relationships[]

Laurelai[]

Very few people within the Alleyverse are aware that any relationship exists between Voidus and Laurelai beyond belonging to the same guild. They had seemingly never interacted with each other before meeting in Alley 0 to prepare for the assault on Plasmacore, but Mac and the Stranger eventually discovered that Laurelai was Voidus' estranged daughter, though even she was unaware of this. Laurelai herself has seemed respectful and fearful of Voidus, not knowing the nature of their relationship, while Voidus has continued to act in an overprotective manner, losing control of his powers on multiple occasions and incidentally causing her to become even more frightened of him.

Mac[]

Voidus and Mac have a long relationship, Voidus originally recruited Mac for the position of head of counterintelligence for the Dark Alley. Initially they had a somewhat distant relationship, and when Voidus escaped the barrier around the Worldspike he became hostile to Mac, blaming him for not releasing him, but Mac's assistance in the fight against Sudiov relieved this hostility and Voidus has since worked somewhat closely with Mac, training him in Voidmaking and having a number of close discussions of the kind he rarely has with anyone else.

The Stranger[]

One of the first people recruited to join the Dark Alley, Voidus regards the Stranger as one of his oldest and most trusted friends, though even then the two have had secrets from each other, including (until recently) the existence of Voidus' daughter. The two worked very closely together before the formation of the Alleyverse, both in experiments, creating the Dark Alley as an organization and other endeavours. However the Stranger left at some point in the past in order to pursue his own experiments and the creation of a more perfect Worldspike.

The two eventually met again in Alley 0 when Voidus called his old friend for assistance, though the Stranger had already shown signs of being on the verge of returning. The two have spoken on a number of times since the Strangers return and Voidus has shown himself grateful to have a friend who does not hold him apart or above, appreciating the Strangers input on a number of subjects and eventually revealing to him the existence of Voidus' daughter, Laurelai.
